ARLINGTON, TEXAS — The Texas Rangers opened their series against Atlanta with an 8-3 win Friday night, notching their fourth consecutive victory — matching their longest win streak of the season. At 54-50, Texas sits four games above .500 for the first time since late April and has now won 13 of its 19 games in July.
Nathan Eovaldi set the tone early, spinning five scoreless innings with seven strikeouts despite issuing a season-high four walks. The veteran right-hander improved to 8-4 on the season and held Atlanta hitless in seven at-bats with runners in scoring position.
Jonah Heim snapped a 20-game home run drought with a solo shot in the second inning, then added another RBI with a bases-loaded walk in the eighth. Heim now sits just one long ball shy of tying Robinson Chirinos for second-most home runs by a primary catcher in Rangers history.
Sam Haggerty, activated earlier in the day, made an immediate impact out of the leadoff spot with a 2-for-4 night that included an RBI double and a first-inning single. He’s now hitting .412 when leading off games in 2025.
Corey Seager reached base twice, extending his on-base streak to 25 games — the longest by a Ranger this season and second-longest active run in the majors.
Rookie Wyatt Langford continued his clutch hitting with a two-out RBI double in the fourth, tying him with Josh Jung for the team lead in two-out RBIs. Jung reached base twice and now has hits in all four games since returning from Triple-A.
The Braves dropped their third straight and fell to 44-58. Starter Joey Wentz allowed four runs (three earned) over 4.1 innings and took the loss. Michael Harris II and Jurickson Profar provided late offense for Atlanta, but the early deficit proved too much.
Texas has now won eight of its last nine at home and will look to clinch the series Saturday.
