SAN JOSE, Calif. — Petar Musa delivered when FC Dallas needed him most, netting twice in a gritty 2-2 draw against the San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday night at PayPal Park. His brace — the first by a Dallas player since 2023 — helped Dallas snap a four-game losing skid.
“I saw a team tonight,” said head coach Eric Quill postgame. “A team that fought, stayed aggressive and played for each other. I’m proud of the response. They deserved more.”
Musa struck deep into first-half stoppage time and again in the 83rd minute, pushing his season total to nine goals — five of which have come over the past six matches. His scoring surge has been a rare bright spot for a Dallas side that’s struggled to find consistency.
The night also marked a special moment for 17-year-old defender Joshua Torquato, who earned his first MLS start. The North Texas SC product became the seventh-youngest player to start a league match for the club.
In addition, Osaze Urhoghide returned to the lineup after missing six matches with injury, solidifying a back line that’s battled fitness issues much of the year.
With the result, Dallas (5-10-7, 22 points) improved to 4-3-4 on the road and continues to lead MLS in points recovered from losing positions — a testament to their resilience.
Next up, Dallas returns home to host St. Louis CITY SC on Saturday, July 19, celebrating “’90s Night” as part of their 30th anniversary season at Toyota Stadium.
