SAN DIEGO, CA — The Texas Rangers let another tight game slip away Friday night, falling 3-2 to the Padres in 10 innings at Petco Park.
Jake Cronenworth delivered the knockout blow—a two-out RBI single off Robert Garcia that scored Jackson Merrill, handing Texas its fourth extra-inning loss in the last six games.
The Rangers jumped ahead in the third when Marcus Semien ripped a two-run double after Josh Smith walked and Corey Seager singled. But the bats went silent from there.
Kumar Rocker worked into the sixth but exited after walking Manny Machado. San Diego tied the game 2-2 with an RBI single from Luis Arraez, but Hoby Milner escaped a bases-loaded jam to keep it even.
Garcia couldn’t do the same in extras. Texas falls to 5-9 in one-run games since June 1.
