BALTIMORE, MD — Evan Carter dashed home in the 10th inning and was ruled safe after review, giving the Texas Rangers a 6-5 win over the Orioles on Tuesday night.
Carter started the inning on second and reached third on a wild pitch. He scored on Sam Haggerty’s grounder when second baseman Jackson Holliday’s throw home was overturned.
Texas had led 4-0 behind a dominant start from Jacob Latz, who carried a no-hitter into the seventh. But the game unraveled after three straight Baltimore homers off Chris Martin put the Orioles up 5-4.
The Rangers tied it in the eighth when Haggerty walked, stole two bases, and scored on Jonah Heim’s sac fly.
Robert Garcia shut the door in the 10th, stranding the tying run at third.
Next up: Jacob deGrom takes the hill for Texas in the series finale Wednesday.
