ARLINGTON, TEXAS — The Rangers’ four-game win streak came to an abrupt end Tuesday night, as the Kansas City Royals jumped on Jack Leiter early and cruised to a 6-1 win at Globe Life Field.
Leiter gave up three runs in the first and allowed a career-high three home runs over 5.2 innings. The rookie has now surrendered 10 earned runs in his last two starts after a strong five-game stretch.
Texas’ only run came on Alejandro Osuna’s RBI single in the fourth — his first career run batted in. The 21-year-old snapped an 0-for-15 skid and became the first Mexican-born Ranger to log an RBI since 2008.
Corey Seager and Adolis García each added a hit, while Caleb Boushley delivered 3.1 perfect innings out of the bullpen — the longest flawless relief outing by a Ranger in nearly two decades.
Kansas City, which had dropped six straight, struck quickly with three first-inning runs. Salvador Perez led the way with two homers and four RBIs, while Bobby Witt Jr. added a solo shot.
Seth Lugo struck out nine over six strong innings for the win. The loss dropped Texas to 10-14 in series openers this season.
