Smith, Armstrong Lead Rangers Past White Sox

ARLINGTON, TEXAS Josh Smith scored all three runs and homered for the second straight night as the Rangers topped the White Sox 3-1 Friday at Globe Life Field. Texas has now won five of its last six and improved to 34-36.

Smith went 2-for-3 with his fifth straight multi-hit game, tying a club record by scoring all three of the team’s runs. Marcus Semien added an RBI double to extend his hit streak to six games.

Shawn Armstrong was perfect over three innings in his first start of the season, striking out five and retiring all nine batters faced. He became the second pitcher in Rangers history to exit a start with a perfect game intact through at least 3.0 innings.

Adrian Houser took the loss for Chicago, allowing three runs over five innings. Luis Robert Jr. broke up the no-hit bid in the fifth and later drove in the Sox’s only run.

Texas has now beaten the White Sox in 13 of the last 15 matchups.
