Renegades Roll Past Showboats 30-12 in Road Win

MEMPHIS, TENN — The Arlington Renegades (4-5) dominated the Memphis Showboats (2-7) with a 30-12 victory Saturday at Liberty Stadium, powered by a balanced offense and a stifling defense.

After a slow first quarter, Arlington struck first with a field goal and quickly capitalized on a defensive strip-sack to grab a 9-0 lead. Memphis responded with a touchdown, but a gutsy 36-yard run on a fake punt by Marquette King set up another Arlington field goal to make it 12-6. Memphis added one more kick before halftime.

The second half belonged to Arlington. Luis Perez connected with Tyler Vaughns for a 41-yard touchdown, followed by a Donald Payne interception that set up a rushing score from JaVonta Payton. A late TD pass from Perez sealed it, as Arlington’s defense shut down any Memphis comeback.

Game Highlights:

  • Vaughns: 8 catches, 107 yards, 1 TD
  • Perez: 206 yards, 2 TDs
  • Hunter: 90 total yards
  • Defense: 5 sacks, 9 TFLs, 2 forced fumbles, 1 INT
