Dallas Trinity Falls to Fort Lauderdale, Faces Must-Win Finale

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA — Dallas Trinity FC dropped its final road match of the season Saturday, falling 1-0 to Fort Lauderdale United FC at Beyond Bancard Field.

Despite the loss, Dallas (11-9-7, 40 points) remains in playoff contention with one match remaining. Fort Lauderdale (11-8-8, 41 points) and Spokane Zephyr FC (41 points) currently hold the final two postseason spots in the USL Super League, with Trinity just one point back.

The two sides were even in shots (11-11) and shots on target (3-3), while Dallas held a 61%-39% advantage in possession. Forward Enzi Broussard made her spring debut, entering as a substitute in the 67th minute.

“We still control our destiny,” head coach Pauline MacDonald said. “A win next week gets us into the postseason, and we’ll be ready.”

“We know what’s at stake,” forward Allie Thornton said. “This week is about staying focused and putting in the work.”

Trinity will host Carolina Ascent FC (13-5-9, 48 points) on Saturday, May 31, at 7 p.m. CT at Cotton Bowl Stadium. A win would clinch a postseason berth. All matches stream on Peacock.
