CHICAGO, ILL — Sean Burke tossed six strong innings of one-run ball as the White Sox topped the Rangers 4-1 on Friday, snapping an 11-game skid against Texas.
Burke struck out six and allowed just three hits, helping Chicago end a stretch of six losses in seven games. The White Sox broke through with a three-run third inning, aided by a pair of walks and RBI hits from Andrew Benintendi and Luis Robert Jr.
Texas cut it to 3-1 on a Jake Burger double, but a misplay by Adolis García led to an insurance run in the sixth. The Rangers, now losers of five straight, managed little else at the plate.
Tyler Mahle took the loss, giving up a season-high three runs over five innings. Steven Wilson recorded his first save for Chicago.
