NEW YORK — On a chilly night in the Bronx, Carlos Rodón once again proved why he’s become the anchor of the Yankees’ rotation. The left-hander was in complete control, spinning six scoreless innings as New York edged Texas 1-0 to secure a three-game sweep.
The difference came in the fifth, when rookie Jorbit Vivas turned on a fastball and sent it into the right-field seats for his first career home run—a timely swing in a game dominated by pitching.
Rodón gave up just two hits, both early, and fanned eight. His slider was untouchable, keeping Rangers hitters guessing all night. He’s now allowed two hits or fewer in four of his 11 starts, and his rhythm continues to build with each outing.
Nathan Eovaldi matched him stride for stride, allowing just one run across six innings, but Vivas’ solo shot proved costly.
New York’s bullpen took care of the rest. Mark Leiter Jr. worked out of a jam in the seventh, Devin Williams cruised through the eighth, and Luke Weaver shut the door in the ninth for his seventh save.
The Yankees have now won four straight and 11 of their last 14, quietly surging up the American League standings.
