ARLINGTON, TEXAS — It was an electric atmosphere Friday night at College Park Center Arena as the Dallas Wings opened their home campaign and welcomed the much-anticipated debut of No. 1 overall pick Paige Bueckers. The rookie didn’t disappoint early, helping the Wings keep pace with the Minnesota Lynx through a competitive first half that ended in a deadlock.
However, momentum shifted in the second half as the Lynx found their rhythm and pulled away in the fourth quarter, securing a 99-84 victory.
Minnesota’s Napheesa Collier delivered a dominant performance, pouring in 34 points along with 4 rebounds and 3 assists.
Courtney Williams added a strong supporting effort with 25 points, 9 assists, and 4 boards.
For Dallas, Arike Ogunbowale led the team with 16 points. Bueckers contributed 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in her debut, later stating there’s “room to grow” and emphasizing the long season ahead.
The Wings return to action Monday night against the Seattle Storm at 7 PM CST, once again at College Park Center Arena.
