ARLINGTON, TEXAS — The Texas Rangers stretched their win streak to six games with a 1-0 shutout of the Houston Astros, their longest run since last September. Texas is 8-3 since May 4 and has won five straight at Globe Life Field, improving to 18-6 at home—matching their best 24-game home start since 2014.
Jacob deGrom was dominant, tossing eight scoreless innings in his first start against Houston. He allowed five hits, struck out seven, and lowered his season ERA to 2.29 over his last six outings.
Jake Burger provided the lone run with a solo homer in the sixth, his fourth of the season. Adolis García doubled to break up a perfect game in the fifth and has four extra-base hits in his last five games.
Despite a career-best eight innings from Hunter Brown, the Astros were shut out for the third time this year.
Texas moves to 24-21 and sits alone in second place in the AL West, just a half-game behind Seattle.
On a historic note, Rangers manager Bruce Bochy moved into sixth all-time on MLB’s managerial wins list, passing Sparky Anderson with his 2,195th career victory.
The Rangers continue their four-game homestand against the Astros on Friday.
