Rantanen’s Hat Trick Stuns Jets in Game 1 Win for Stars

WINNIPEG — Mikko Rantanen made playoff history Wednesday night, scoring a natural hat trick in the second period to lift the Dallas Stars to a 3-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets in Game 1 of their second-round series.

Rantanen, who also had a hat trick in Game 7 against Colorado, became just the third player in NHL history to record hat tricks in back-to-back playoff games — joining Jari Kurri (1985) and Doug Bentley (1944).

Jake Oettinger stopped 30 shots for Dallas, holding off a late Winnipeg surge. Game 2 stays in Winnipeg on Friday before the series heads to Dallas for Game 3.
