FC Dallas Advances to Round of 16 with 3-1 Win Over AV ALTA FC

FRISCO, TEXAS — FC Dallas defeated AV ALTA FC 3-1 on Wednesday night to advance to the Round of 16 in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Luciano Acosta scored his first Open Cup goal, marking his 300th domestic appearance, while Kaick netted his first professional goal. Bernard Kamungo added a third in the 71st minute.

Homegrown midfielder Diego Garcia made his debut, impressing despite a few early mistakes.

Coach Eric Quill emphasized the high stakes of the tournament: “In this tournament, you can’t take plays off. Every match is a final.”

FC Dallas will face the New York Red Bulls next, with their MLS matchup against Real Salt Lake set for May 10.
