Semien Sparks Rangers’ Offense in 8-5 Win Over Athletics

SACRAMENTO, CA — Marcus Semien continued his strong start to the season Tuesday night, driving in four runs and belting a three-run homer to lead the Texas Rangers past the Oakland Athletics, 8-5.

Semien’s home run—measured at 417 feet—came in the fifth inning and gave Texas a commanding 7-2 lead. He also delivered an RBI double earlier in the game, accounting for half of the Rangers’ run production.

The Rangers built an early cushion and withstood a late surge from the A’s, who trimmed the deficit but couldn’t pull even. Texas’ bullpen held firm in the final innings, locking down the win.

Oakland starter Paul Blackburn struggled with command, while Texas capitalized with 11 hits, including three for extra bases.

Looking ahead, right-hander Kumar Rocker (1-2, 6.38 ERA) will start for Texas after earning his first big league victory.
