Rangers Blanketed in Finale, Finish Homestand 4-2

ARLINGTON, TEXAS — The Rangers were shut out for the second time in three games, falling 1-0 to the Dodgers in Sunday’s rubber match.

Tyler Mahle dazzled with 7.0 scoreless innings (2 H, 4 K), trimming his ERA to 0.68 — the lowest by any Rangers starter through five outings since 1961. But Freddie Freeman’s sac fly in the 8th proved decisive.

Josh Smith stayed red-hot, going 3-for-4 to extend his hit streak to six. He’s hitting .436 in April.

Texas wraps the homestand 4-2 and sits 13-9 overall. A six-game road trip begins Tuesday in Sacramento.
