The Renegades Look To Build Momentum In Revenge Game Against Brahmas

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — Last week’s victory for the Arlington Renegades proved to be too little, too late as they were eliminated from playoff contention on Sunday. They needed both the Brahmas and Defenders to lose out in order to make it, however, the Brahmas won on a last-second field goal to eliminate the Renegades. The atmosphere in that locker room remains positive, despite not having anything to play for as far as championships is concerned. In the press conference Wednesday, Luis Perez spoke on the locker room still being motivated despite the circumstances, stating, “guys are excited even though we know we’re eliminated from the playoffs. Guys are still excited to put out good film.”

The Renegades will try and keep that high energy going when they take on the Brahmas in San Antonio Sunday Afternoon. The first matchup with the Brahmas ended in a 10-point loss for the Renegades, despite it being tied at the beginning of the 4th. The game got away from them when they failed to sustain drives, failing on 4th down far too often. The Renegades went an abysmal 3-14 on 3rd downs, which prompted HC Bob Stoops to make a controversial decision to go for it on 4th down at their own 40-yard line. After the failed attempt, it went downhill from there when Arlington failed to seize the momentum in the game. Another cause for concern heading into the game this week is the Renegades ability to stop the ground game of the Brahmas. In the last matchup they gave up the most rushing yards they have all season long in a game.

On the flip side, QB Luis Perez had himself a game in week 5, going 26-36 and throwing for 269 yards. The passing game is a dimension where the Renegades will have an advantage. It will all come down to the offense being able to stay on the field and convert 3rd downs.

The game will be Sunday at 3 in San Antonio in a Texas Showdown against the Brahmas.
