TCU Takes On BYU In Big 12 Conference Play

FORT WORTH, Texas — After dropping its last two Big 12 games, TCU is trying to turn things around this season. Without starting quarterback Chandler Morris, the Horned Frogs will have a difficult challenge, but one that is yet achievable. BYU has a 4-1 record going into this match after defeating a formidable SEC Arkansas team.

TCU’s running game is crucial to their success. Josh Hoover, Chandler Morris’s successor, is not a reliable thrower. Hoover is a young player, but in the games he has participated in, his stats are alarming. Of his 22 passing attempts this season, he has only recorded two interceptions.  With his running prowess, Emani Bailey has to step up and open up the offense. This season, Bailey has gained 690 yards rushing, so if Hoover can allow him to play, the offense may still have a shot.

The performance of Defense TCU has been erratic. On paper, BYU quarterback Kedon Slovis has been playing really well this year. Slovis has completed 98 of 165 throws for 1,240 yards with 10 touchdowns and three interceptions through five games.  It will be crucial to put pressure on him early and prevent him from having time to throw the ball. Overall, this is going to be a tough matchup but if TCU doesn’t win their ability to make a bowl game could diminish.

Kick off is set for 2:30 pm at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
