FORT WORTH,TX- The TCU Horned Frogs took down the SMU Mustangs in a DFW showdown, 83-75.

Mike Miles had his 1st game back and led the Frogs with 17 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists.

TCU came out hot during the 1st half as they were able to find the ball quickly down the stretch and found a groove defensively inside the paint, holding SMU’s leading scorer, Zhuric Phelps (19.6 points per game), to 6 points in the first half.

“Rebounding is something we need to work on,” said Coach Dixon. “I don’t think we’ve been doing it on offense or the defensive glass and that’s something we are trying to emphasize.”

TCU was unable to force as many turnovers as usual (17.4 times per game) , pressuring  SMU to only 11 total turnovers.

“We didn’t force as many turnovers so we can’t rely on that,” said Dixon. ” We have to get better in that area.”

The Frogs lightly pressed the brakes going into the 2nd half but were still able to keep a 10 point lead over SMU.

“We get big leads but we always seem to lose them. Coach has been saying we need to learn how to sustain a lead. Usually once the other team presses we start to slow down when we should’ve just kept going.

TCU will return back to the Schollmaier Arena December 18th to face Mississippi Valley. Tip-off is at 4 p.m.
