Dallas Cowboys Kickoff Minicamp: Day 1

FRISCO, TX – The Dallas Cowboys minicamp got underway Tuesday morning in Frisco. It is mandatory that all players show up for this workout.

Here’s a breakdown of today’s practice:

DALTON SCHULTZ :

Due to minicamp being mandatory for all players Schultz did show up to practice today despite not making any more progress on his contract.

Dak Prescott said having Schultz out there today is necessary and said, “Dalton is a guy I can count on and trust on this team.”

“It’s great to have him back. He’ll get some work in today.” Head Coach Mike McCarthy said.

JALEN TOLBERT:

Jalen Tolbert was seen practicing today at wide receiver and punt returner. The Cowboys are looking to use some of the rookies early on in the season on special teams. Head Coach Mike McCarthy said that he likes to build a bridge between the vets and the rookies. He said he expects some of the rookies to contribute right away and it will definitely be on special teams.

CEEDEE LAMB:

Ceedee Lamb did not practice today. He was on the sidelines with his team but did not take any reps. Head Coach Mike McCarthy said, “Ceedee is clearly at the top of the list. We have to get the ball in the hands of the playmakers.”

DAK PRESCOTT:

Dak Prescott is looking the healthiest he has been in a couple years. Prescott told us after practice today that he is the leanest he has been in his life.

The plan right now for Prescott is for him to have more opportunities to get outside of the pocket and run the ball more than he did last year. They toned down that option last year because he was still recovering from a season ending ankle injury the year before.

Mini Camp will continue thru Thursday in Frisco.
