TCU Gets Blown Out By Iowa State 48-14, Initiate The Sonny Dykes Era

AMES, IA – TCU ended the season with a huge 48-14 loss to Iowa State to bring them to a 5-7 record to end the season. They finished second to last in the Big 12 Conference ahead of Kansas sitting at 3-6.

TCU’s defense continued to struggle as they gave up 242 yards and four touchdowns to running back Breece Hall.

Max Duggan threw for 216 yards for two touchdown passes.

With this loss the Horned Frogs lost their eligibility for a bowl game this season and will be the second time they lost eligibility for the second time in three years.

Initiate the Sonny Dykes era:

Sonny Dykes will be the new head coach for Texas Christian next year for the 2022-2023 season. Despite the rivalry between SMU and TCU, the Horned Frogs are excited to have Dykes in Fort Worth.

Dykes will move across the DFW Metroplex and start with TCU after being SMU’s head coach for five years. He has led the Mustangs to an 8-3 record this season and they were undefeated until week 6 of the 2021 season.

Dykes had a 30-17 record in his five years of coaching in Dallas, which includes a 10-game win season for the first time since 1983.

TCU will be done for this season but the future is bright for the Horned Frogs as Sonny Dyke tries to turn things around for this program next season.
