Cowboys Agree to One-Year Deal with TE Blake Bell

FRISCO, TEXAS — The Dallas Cowboys have agreed to a one-year deal with tight end Blake Bell on Wednesday.

With the loss of Jason Witten to the Raiders, the Cowboys were in need of an in-line blocker. The team signed Blake Jarwin to a four-year deal worth up to $24 million, who was considered the better receiving tight end for Dallas. Jarwin made an impact in the passing game with an 11.8-yard average after the catch in 2019, whereas Witten was the predominant blocker. The Cowboys added Bell to fill the much-needed role.

During his five-year NFL career, Bell spent time with the San Francisco 49ers (2015-2016), Minnesota Vikings (2017), Jacksonville Jaguars (2018), and the Kansas City Chiefs (2019). The 28-year-old has totaled 38 receptions for 424 yards in 65 games played. He will now join a TE group that contains Jarwin, Dalton Schultz, and Cole Hikutini. The Cowboys could still opt to look for a TE in the draft but with the acquisition of Bell, the move is not necessary.
