FRISCO, TEXAS — The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced on Tuesday that the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers will star in the 2020 Hall of Fame Game on Aug. 6 in Canton, Ohio.

Two storied franchises will kick off the 2020 NFL preseason. It is fitting that both teams were chosen to appear with former Cowboys’ coach Jimmy Johnson being enshrined in the Hall of Fame on Aug. 8, along with former Steelers’ coach Bill Cowher and safety Troy Polamalu.

Both teams have appeared in the Hall of Fame game a total of six times, but have never faced off against one another. Dallas has an overall record of 3-3 in the game, as does the Steelers.

With the Cowboys entering the 2020 season under new head coach Mike McCarthy; this game could be just what the doctor ordered for the club entering the 2020 season with a new regime. The teams selected to play in the Hall of Fame game generally report to Training Camp at an earlier date than the rest of the league. The additional preparation time would benefit the Cowboys that cleaned ship following the 2019 season.
