UNT vs SMU Preview

DALLAS,Tx — The home opener is set for SMU Football tomorrow against North Texas at 6 p.m. This game will serve as the annual whiteout game on the Hilltop. Saturday’s match up will be the 39th between SMU and North Texas, with the Mustangs coming in with a 31-6-1 all time advantage. Dating back to 1979, SMU have won 10 straight at home games against the Mean Green. Last season, North Texas defeated SMU 46-23 during the season opener. 

Last week, the Mustangs opened the season with a win against Arkansas State, 37-30. SMU had a total of 508 yards of total offense on the 94 plays against Arkansas State. Player to watch during the home opener is transfer quarterback Shane Buechele who was named one of the captains for the season and threw for 360 yards last week which is the most for any player in his first start on the Hilltop
