Brianna and Brittany: Cowboys Sign Hurns, Free Agency & Upcoming NFL Draft

FRISCO, TEXAS — Wide Receiver Allen Hurns has signed a two-year deal worth up to $12 million with the Dallas Cowboys. Hurns was released and became a free agent earlier this week by the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Cowboys have wasted no time filling the much anticipated wide receiver position. The Cowboys have also signed former Bills FA wide receiver Denote Thompson to a one-year deal worth $2.5 million.

During the 2017 season the Dallas Cowboys struggled offensively. Quarterback Dak Prescott had trouble finding chemistry with his veteran receivers and suffering with pass-protection issues. Several moves during the off-season including hiring wide receivers ‘assistant coach Sanjay Lal and Paul Alexander as the new Offensive Line assistant coach, have been aimed at correcting the offensive issues the Cowboys faced in 2017.

Over his four-year career (2014-17) with the Jaguars in 52 game-starts, Allen Hurns has gained 189 receptions for 2,669 yards and an average of 14.1. In 2015 he had a career high 64 receptions for 1,031 yards.

In 53 game starts from 2012-17, Deonte Thompson has accumulated 77 receptions for 1,032 yards and an average of 13.4.

These two players will have the chance to upgrade the Cowboys’ offensive scheme and make a difference on the field for “America’s Team.”
