WR Allen Hurns Chooses New Jersey Number In Memory of Florida Shooting Victims

FRISCO, TEXAS – Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Allen Hurns has chosen his new jersey number for the silver and blue to be number 17, in loving memory of the 17 victims who lost their lives in the Florida school shooting last month.

Hurns was born in and grew up in Miami, so the Stoneman Douglas School shooting hit home for him.

He told 105.3 The Fan in an interview, “ The Douglas shooting that was in Florida, 17 people lost their lives, so I chose that number.”

He will wear number 17 for “America’s Team” to commemorate the innocent lives that were abruptly and tragically taken in his home state of Florida. A beautiful sentimental act by the receiver, who will take the field this off-season for his new team, bearing special significance on his jersey.
