Dallas Cowboys Re-Structure Jason Witten and Travis Frederick’s Contracts

FRISCO, TEXAS – The Dallas Cowboys are beginning to focus on their offensive line during free agency. The past week has been all talk about the wide receiver position as the Cowboys signed Allen Hurns and Deonte Thompson, but now it has shifted to the strong force of players who block for and protect these ball carriers, along with those who snap the ball for the rest to be possible.

The Dallas Cowboys’ have re-signed offensive lineman Joe Looney to a two-year contract. The Cowboys have freed up space underneath the salary cap by re-structuring the contracts of veterans Jason Witten and Travis Frederick. Tight end Jason Witten agreed to the re-structure to save his organization around $3 million in cap space, along with center Travis Frederick who helped them attain around $7 million. Both of these star players were named to the Pro Bowl in 2017 and their character on and off the field precedes them.

Witten became a Walter Payton Man of the Year Award Recipient in 2012 for his involvement with non-profits, including his SCORE Foundation that helps people deal with domestic violence. Frederick was a 2017 Walter Payton Man of the Year Award Nominee for his work in fighting against hunger and he provided more than 100,000 total meals for children within the year.

These two beloved Cowboys continue to shine on and off the field with exemplary performances as they look forward to the 2018 season.
