WINGS WIN OVER SPARKS

Arlington, TX – The Dallas Wings recorded back-to-back wins, defeating the Los Angeles Sparks for the second time this season, 85-79. The six-point win matches the exact margin of victory the Wings recorded against the Sparks on June 9, 96-90. After being down by three at the end of the first quarter, the Wings sparked the court, taking command of the second, outscoring the Sparks 23-19 to go into the half with a one-point lead.

At the start of the second frame, the Wings remained on top, with Glory Johnson and Skylar Diggins-Smith leading the way scoring 15 (Johnson) and 12 (Diggins-Smith) points each.

The Wings ended the day recording a season high in total boards with 47. They also shot 90.5% from the line, which ranks as the third game this season to reach that percentage. Four Wings players recorded double figures with Johnson leading for the sixth time this season at 23 points and 13 total rebounds. It marked as the tenth double-double of the season and fifth game where she scored 20 points or more.

Also leading the way for the Wings this afternoon, was Karima Christmas-Kelly, who brought in 17 points and five total boards. Diggins-Smith scored 14 with five total boards, while Aerial Powers came off the bench to score 12 and a season high in assists with three.
