Robert De Niro set to play Vince Lombardi

NEW YORK — Robert De Niro, a legendary actor who won an Oscar for his 1980 portrayal of famed boxer Jake LaMotta in “Raging Bull”, will play ex-American football coach Vince Lombardi in a new movie by ESPN Films. ESPN announced Tuesday that De Niro would portray the legend in “Lombardi”, a movie looking at his transformation of the Green Bay Packers from the National Football League’s worst team to five-time NFL champions in the 1960s.

Rodriguez Says He Is at Ease Amid Scrutiny

TAMPA, Fla. — Alex Rodriguez says he is “at ease, no matter what” with his relationship with a Canadian sports doctor embroiled in a cross-border drug smuggling investigation involving human growth hormone and another drug. Rodriguez told reporters Tuesday at the Yankees spring training complex that he still does not know when he will be interviewed by federal authorities. The slugger said last week he was “aware” of the investigation and plans to cooperate with the government. When asked if he is choosing not to talk or has been told not to speak, Rodriguez laughed and says he “thinks the latter.” Dr. Anthony Galea told The Associated Press on Monday that he helped in Rodriguez’s recovery from a hip injury last year but prescribed only anti-inflammatories.

Justin Bieber debuting ‘My World 2.0′ on QVC

Justin Bieber has stopped by the home shopping channel QVC on March 9 to perform songs from his upcoming effort “My World 2.0″. He kicked off his set with an acoustic version of “One Less Lonely Girl” which comes from his first album “My World”.

Another track Justin performed was a brand new song called “Smile” which is recorded as a tribute to his devotees. “This is the song I wrote for my fans and dedicate to them,” Justin previously wrote on Twitter about the fresh track from his sophomore set.

Michael Jackson’s former bodyguards have spoken out about their late boss, revealing the King of Pop romanced a string of women with dates in the back of his limousine. The “Thriller” hitmaker’s longterm security guards, Mike Garcia, Bill Whitfield and Javon ‘BJ’ Beard, agreed to be interviewed on U.S. TV show “Good Morning America” on Tuesday, March 9.

Molly Ringwald records jazz album

“The Breakfast Club” star Molly Ringwald has recorded a new jazz album – 36 years after her last release. The 42-year-old actress recorded her debut, “I Wanna Be Loved by You”, when she was just six and she completed work on her follow-up on Saturday night, March 6 – hours before she took the stage at the Oscars for a touching tribute to moviemaker John Hughes.

She tells WENN, “I’m really excited about it. I haven’t come up with a name yet but it’s with my quintet that I’ve been performing with a lot in the Los Angeles area.” The actress is also branching out as a writer – she’ll be releasing a new book, “Getting the Pretty Back”, about motherhood, diet and turning 40, in May.

Lily Allen works documentary

Lily Allen has reportedly invited a camera crew into her life to record a U.K. TV series about her latest fashion venture. The “Smile” singer is said to have agreed to star in a TV show about the launch of her designer clothing rental shop in London, called Lucy in Disguise, with her half-sister Sarah Owen.

The documentary will also follow Allen as she starts up her own record label. A source tells Britain’s The Sun, “Lily was approached about the TV show and thought it would help promote her new ventures as well as letting people get to know her a bit better.”

Corey Haim found dead

Actor Corey Haim, 38, is dead after an accidental drug overdose. A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Coroner confirmed that Haim, who battled substance addiction for several years, was found unresponsive in an Oakwood apartment and pronounced dead at Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center at 2:15 a.m. this morning. His mother, according to FOX station KTLA, was in the apartment at the time.

Nick Jonas duet with Jordan Pruitt

Nick Jonas is confirmed to collaborate with his fellow Hollywood Records’ artist Jordan Pruitt. “The Amazing @nickjonas is singing on my recorded version of #dontloseyourself !Can’t wait for you to hear it!!!” she wrote on her Twitter.

Written by Jonas Brothers, the song is confirmed to be included in Jordan’s upcoming third studio album. The track actually has been teased back in September last year in a YouTube video featuring her singing the song acoustically without Nick featured on the hook.
