The veteran trio of Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp will nip The Dave Matthews Band as the first major concert at Alliance Bank Stadium in Syracuse since 2000. It became official at a news conference this morning outside the baseball stadium: The Bob Dylan Show, with the rock icon bringing along the country legend and classic/roots rock star, comes there at 6 p.m. July 19. That beats out the previously announced Aug. 4 show at Alliance Bank Stadium by The Dave Matthews Band to become the first major on-field show since The Allman Brothers Band nine summers ago. Those will be the only two concerts at the stadium this year, Chiefs General Manager John Simone and Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney said at the news conference. The stadium field superintendent said he thinks that’s as much as the natural grass field can take in one season.
