FRISCO, Texas – Pro Football Writers of America honored three Dallas Cowboys with awards: Guard Zack Martin, Defensive End Demarcus Lawrence, and Punt Returner Ryan Switzer for their performances on the field this season.
The PFWA named Zack Martin to their All-NFL First Team for his outstanding season only allowing one sack and never committing a single penalty.
The PFWA named Demarcus Lawrence to their All-NFC Team for his contribution on the field setting the record for the fastest player to reach 10 sacks in a season and 14.5 total sacks during the 2017 season, earning him the number two spot in the league.
As salary cap negotiations will be taking place in the near future, the Dallas Cowboys will have a big decision to make on these two All-Pro players. Demarcus Lawrence is now a free agent and Zack Martin’s contract ends next year and he will become a free agent as well. These two players were difference makers this past year to the Cowboy’s offensive and defensive lines. The Cowboys need to extend their contracts and make the necessary adjustments to keep these two players for the success of the team.
The PFWA named Ryan Switzer to their All-Rookie Team. Switzer has earned his position as a punt returner in the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys this season. During his first year he had the highest return average in the NFL at one point and finished the season with 600 kick return yards, including an 83-yard return for a Touchdown in the game against the Washington Redskins. Switzer has proven his ability and agility on the field for “America’s Team” and his significance to their special teams.
