Mavericks flat in season opener against the Wizards

It was the NBA season opener for the Dallas Mavericks Tuesday night, as they played to packed crowd of 19,871 at the American Airline Center in Dallas Texas as they loss to the Washington Wizard 102-91. The Washington Wizards Gilbert Arenas who played only 15 games last two seasons looked like the Arenas of old scoring 29 points going 10 of 21 and made 8-of-9 from the free throw line.

Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavericks in scoring with a game-high 34 points and newcomer Shawn Marion was the other Maverick starter to score in double figures. He finished with 16 points scoring 10 of his points in the 2nd half. The Maverick stayed close as Washington led 77-76 with 11:25 to go in the 4th quarter but The Wizards then went on a 10-1 run to extend their lead to 87-77 with 6:06 to play.
